The Colts are coming off a Week 1 loss to the Houston Texans, and the Packers also find themselves at 0-1 after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

To state the obvious, neither team will want to fall to 0-2, where statistically speaking, the odds of making the playoffs become quite low.

The Packers are expected to be without quarterback Jordan Love, who suffered an MCL sprain in Week 1. Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley said that the Colts are preparing for Malik Willis to get the start.

With, albeit, limited opportunities, Willis has struggled in his short career, but he and the Packers do have the element of unpredictability on their side with the unknown around how he will be utilized in the Matt LaFleur offense, having just arrived in Green Bay two weeks ago.

For the Colts, success on defense likely starts with slowing Josh Jacobs and the Packers run game. This will put Willis in long down-and-distance situations, where the Colts’ pass rush can pin its ears back.

Attempting to stop the Packers run game, however, may require the Colts to trust their back end to hold up against a Packers’ receiver room loaded with playmaking abilities.

On offense for the Colts, getting Jonathan Taylor going this week will help even out the time of possession battle and take some of the playmaking burden off of Anthony Richardson’s shoulders.

The Colts are currently the early favorites in this matchup.
