It is hoped that an official update will be provided Wednesday regarding the knee injury that right tackle Jonah Williams suffered against the Bills. He is expected to miss some time.
Along those lines, the Cardinals had tryouts with six players Tuesday and two were tackles.
The only backup tackle on the active roster is Kelvin Beachum, who replaced Williams Sunday when he was injured on the final play of the first quarter. On the practice squad are Jackson Barton and Luke Tenuta, the latter who was signed on Aug. 29 after being waived by the Packers.
The two tackles working out were five-year veteran Charlie Heck and rookie Brian Dooley.
Heck (6-8, 315) was selected by the Texans in the fifth round of the 2020 draft and played 41 games with 21 starts in four seasons with six games and four starts in 2023. He began the season on reserve/physically unable to perform because of a back injury. This year, his contract was terminated on Aug. 27.
Dooley (6-5, 318) was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Titans this year and was waived Aug. 26.
The other four tryouts were all cornerbacks: Ekow Boye-Doe, Steven Gilmore, D’Shawn Jamison and Gregory Junior.
Boye-Doe (6-0, 177) signed as an undrafted free agent with the Chiefs in 2023 and played six games. He was waived Aug. 26.
Gilmore (6-0, 174) was an undrafted free agent with the Lions in 2023 and played three games. He was waived on Aug. 27.
Jamison (5-9, 185) was an undrafted free agent with the Panthers in 2023 and played 15 games with two starts. He was waived Aug. 28.
Junior was a sixth-round draft pick with the Jaguars in 2022 and played 10 games in two seasons with one in 2023. He was waived with an injury settlement on Aug. 15.
One other note: The Browns had a tryout with tight end Geoff Swaim Tuesday and reportedly signed him to their practice squad. Swaim played 14 games with eight starts for the Cardinals in 2023, but ended the season on injured reserve with a calf injury and became an unrestricted free agent in March.
