Both squads currently sit at 1-1. Iowa took down Illinois State in Week 1 before falling to the Iowa State Cyclones in Week 2.
Minnesota has done the opposite. After a Week 1 home loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels, they responded with a strong showing against Rhode Island to even up their record.
Iowa is seeking revenge on the Golden Gophers after the Floyd of Rosedale was taking home by Minnesota in last year’s 12-10 loss that is still hotly contested to this day.
That game featured the infamous review of Cooper DeJean’s punt return touchdown late in the game that was overturned by way of an invalid fair catch signal.
Minnesota still holds the all-time record in this rivalry by a tally of 63-52-2 despite Iowa having most of the success lately.
Iowa has won eight of the last ten and 15 of the last 20. Since 2000, the Minnesota Golden Gophers have only been able to take home the Floyd of Rosedale six times.
This game will be each team’s first Big Ten play of the season as well.
