Taking a look at the AP Top 25 poll after Week 2

It’s time for another weekly check in on the AP Top 25, and Florida is unsurprisingly absent from the list after a 1-1 start to the year. Could beating Texas A&M next week do the trick?

The latest update to the AP Top 25 poll doesn’t feature the Florida Gators, but most of the teams left on UF’s schedule have a number by their name after two weeks of play.

Three teams are vying for the top spot on the AP Top 25 — Georgia, Texas and Ohio State. The Bulldogs and Longhorns occupy the top two spots, in that order, and will clash on October 19.

Alabama and Ole Miss are also in the top five, and Missouri moved up three spots to No. 6. Tennessee checks in at No. 7 after a dominant, 69-3, win over Chattanooga that forced a seven-spot jump. That means there are six SEC teams in the top seven.

Florida faces both Georgia and Texas in back-to-back weeks in November, followed by a meeting with No. 16 LSU. Tennessee is also on the schedule, as is Ole Miss.

Rounding out the top 10 are Penn State, Oregon and Miami. The Gators, of course, lost to the Hurricanes a week ago.

Looking at the rest of the SEC, Oklahoma checks in at No. 15, Texas A&M (Florida’s upcoming opponent) is the unofficial No. 28 team in the country with 68 poll points, Vanderbilt earned 18 points and South Carolina earned 10.
