Washington rises 3 spots in Week Two US LBM Coaches Poll

The Washington Huskies are rising steadily in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

After starting the season unranked, the Washington Huskies are on the rise in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Jedd Fisch’s team has looked strong on both sides of the ball, and after checking in at No. 25 following a 35-3 win over Weber State, the Huskies rose three spots to No. 22 after a 30-9 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

Quarterback Will Rogers was extremely efficient in the win, throwing for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns while completing nearly 81 percent of his passes. Running back Jonah Coleman tallied 104 yards on 11 carries in the win, but Washington’s defense stole the show.

Defensive coordinator Steve Belichick’s group allowed just 9 points, with 6 of them coming on 50 and 57-yard field goals from Eagles kicker Jesus Gomez and recorded 7 sacks of quarterback Cole Snyder. Through two weeks, the Huskies are allowing a meager 6 points and 228.5 yards per game.

The Huskies are the No. 6 team in the Big Ten according to the Coaches Poll. They are curiously sitting behind multiple teams that struggled mightily on Saturday, including No. 19 Notre Dame, which lost to MAC opponent Northern Illinois in South Bend, as Fisch noted in his postgame press conference.
