Patriots elevating two practice squad players to main roster for Week 1

Patriots elevate two practice squad players ahead of Sunday’s regular season opener

Offensive guard Michael Jordan and defensive tackle Trysten Hill are being elevated from the New England Patriots practice squad to the main roster for the Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Patriots announced the roster moves on Saturday.

Starting guard Sidy Sow was ruled out for the game on Friday. With the team also missing Cole Strange, a practice squad elevation for extra guard depth was expected.

Mike Onwenu moved back to guard during training camp, but the struggles at offensive tackle forced the Patriots to kick him back outside to help out at that position instead. It has been a revolving door along the offensive front for the Patriots at both positions throughout training camp and the preseason.

As for Hill, the Patriots need all of the help they can get along the defensive front with Christian Barmore still sidelined.

Hill is a good rotational piece for the Patriots to utilize against a Bengals offense that might depend on the ground game more than usual with both of their star wide receivers possibly missing in action.
