Notre Dame has been struggling with an upset-minded Northern Illinois but running back Jeremiyah Love just put the Fighting Irish back on top for the first time since the first quarter with a 34-yard touchdown run.
The score comes with 8:34 remaining in the fourth quarter and, following the Mitch Jeter extra point, put the Irish up 14-13. Love hurdled a Huskies defender on his way to the end zone.
NIU’s defense had given the Irish offense fits to this point in the game. Love’s run has energized the crowd and given Notre Dame the lead back — we’ll see if it will help the offense get back to the form it showed on the games’ opening drive.
