Iowa football releases Week 2 availability report vs. Iowa State

Iowa football released its Week 2 availability report vs. Iowa State.

As the Iowa Hawkeyes ready for their rivalry showdown against the Iowa State Cyclones, they have released their Week 2 availability report.

There’s no true surprises on it. Junior wide receiver Seth Anderson and sophomore linebacker Jayden Montgomery are both listed as out. Anderson was listed out a week ago, while Montgomery was listed as questionable.

Neither Anderson or Montgomery were listed on the Hawkeyes’ Week 2 depth chart.

Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz updated Anderson’s status earlier this week during his weekly press conference.

“Seth, it’s not as bad maybe as we thought initially, but nonetheless. I guess it was last Wednesday. I think we met Tuesday, so it was the next day of course. It doesn’t look as bad right now. We’ll probably know a little bit more by the end of the week, but it won’t be this week. Hopefully we’re talking about a week or two, not multiple weeks,” Ferentz said.

Anderson, a 6-foot, 180 pound receiver, played in all 14 games and started eight a season ago, catching 11 passes for 150 yards with a touchdown during the 2023 season.

The Hawkeyes do see the return of junior wide receiver Kaleb Brown in this Cy-Hawk showdown.

“Anything that happens along the way, our deal is like we deal with it, and then my encouragement for everybody is we’re looking forward. We’re not looking back unless there’s a reason to…

“Kaleb Brown, it’s going to be good to get him back, too. The deal was last week he worked on the scout team against our defense. And Phil and those guys did a great job, and that’s what you want to hear. He had a great attitude about it. He’s back in the rotation now and he’ll be out there Saturday. I don’t know how much, but he’ll be out there,” Ferentz said.

Brown caught 22 passes for 215 yards with one touchdown.

Kickoff against Iowa State is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
