Former Kentucky Wildcats star Josh Hines-Allen named team captain

Former Kentucky football star Josh Hines-Allen was named a team captain for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Josh Hines-Allen was named a Jacksonville Jaguars team captain this week before the Jaguars start their season on the road against the Miami Dolphins.

The Jaguars’ Pro Bowl edge defender, Hines-Allen says there is no nervousness among the defense as they prepare to face arguably the best offense in the NFL last season.

“No. I see it every day in practice,” Hines-Allen said. “Is that your topic—the defense, the first-time out—that’s what I’m starting to pick up. I think the question, every question—all my answers are going to be same. We work really hard in practice. We train, we push ourselves every day in practice to get it right just on Sundays, so when we go out here and we do practice against our offense, our defense, we execute really fast and we play really fast because we know what we’re doing.

Hines-Allen is coming off the best season of his career with a franchise-record 17.5 sacks, tied for second in the NFL last season.

He ranks sixth in pressures (228) and is tied for 10th in sacks (32) in the NFL over the past three seasons.

At Kentucky he totaled 224 tackles, 41.0 TFL, 31.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, 11 forced fumbles, eight pass break ups, two fumble recoveries, one blocked kick and one interception in his four-year career as a Wildcat.
