The Utah State Aggies have lost one of their biggest offensive weapons. He won’t be available for USC, or for any future 2024 opponent. Junior running back Robert Briggs fractured his left leg in the team’s season-opening win against Robert Morris on Saturday.
Earlier this week, Utah State interim head coach Nate Dreiling announced that Briggs will miss the rest of the 2024 season.
“With Robert, he has already had surgery and he will be out for the remainder of the season,” Dreiling said. “We will appreciate any prayers that anyone wants to send out to him.
“He worked extremely hard this offseason and had a great first game. It is just how it works some times. He will come back stronger than ever.”
Briggs, a 5-foot-6, 185-pound running back from Bellville, Texas (Bellville High School), appeared in 21 games in his three-year career.
Last year, Briggs ran for 420 yards (5.3 yards per carry) and two touchdowns. On Saturday, he racked up 88 yards on nine runs before the injury.
