Indy NXT series director Levi Jones is leaving his post at Penske Entertainment.

The USAC racing legend is departing to run Eldora Speedway and will assume his new position immediately after the September 14-15 NTT IndyCar Series and NXT season finale at Nashville Speedway.

“On behalf of everyone at Eldora Speedway, we’re excited and grateful to have Levi Jones as our general manager,” Eldora owner and IndyCar/NASCAR champion Tony Stewart said. “Levi has always held Eldora in high regard, both as a racer and as an executive. Now in his role as general manager, he combines a racer’s perspective with excellent managerial and promotional experience earned in USAC and IndyCar. Our fans and competitors should know that Eldora is in very good hands, just as it had been before.”

The search for a replacement to lead IndyCar’s top training category is under way.

“In the last three seasons, we have seen the successful integration of Indy NXT by Firestone with the IndyCar paddock,” said IndyCar president Jay Frye. “The car count has climbed, and on-track competition is as good as ever. The stage is clearly set for Indy NXT’s continued growth, energy and momentum. We thank Levi for his immense contributions and wish him well as he returns to his roots through his new role at Eldora Speedway.”
