The first game of the NFL season was a premier matchup between the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs facing the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, both two-time MVP winners, put on a show.
In the end, the Chiefs came away with a 27-20 win, giving fans more of last season. If the season were that game, Jackson would have been the MVP but Mahomes ends up the champion.
Jackson had 273 passing yards and a touchdown. He rushed for 122 yards. And he was about an inch away from a second touchdown pass.
Down 27-20, Jackson led the Ravens down the field and had third-and-goal from the 10. Jackson, after scrambling, threw a dart to tight end Isaiah Likely for a touchdown as time expired.
However, upon review, Likely’s toe touched the end line.

He missed the score by that much.
Mahomes had a touchdown pass and 291 passing yards, but it was rookie receiver Xavier Worthy who proved to be the perfect fit. His first NFL touch was a 21-yard touchdown run. He added a 35-yard touchdown catch to give the Chiefs a 27-17 lead in the fourth quarter.
What a way to start the NFL season!
