UCLA coach DeShaun Foster opens up on Ethan Garbers’ slow start

DeShaun Foster still believes in Garbers.

UCLA Bruins quarterback Ethan Garbers won the QB1 job heading into 2024 and was expected to be a big part of the offense. In Week 1 against Hawaii, Garbers struggled big time and even had fans wondering if he is the right man for the job.

UCLA coach DeShaun Foster spoke on Garbers’ performance in the opener against Hawaii, per Tracy McDannald of Rivals.

“Just first game jitters. That’s just how it goes. I was just glad, like you said, second half and you saw Ethan Garbers. He played a good game. He kept everybody on the offense upbeat and ready to go and they just continued to fight and make some plays.”
Garbers surely has even more to prove in 2024, especially after a bit of a dud against Hawaii. Hopefully, things get better as UCLA faces Indiana in Week 3 after having a bye in Week 2.
