Deshaun Watson relegated below career backups in new QB rankings

This is uhhhh… a new low for Watson.

As we reach the beginning of the NFL season, The 33rd Team has completed a new quarterbacks ranking piece that once again paints Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson in a jarring light.

Just how jarring? Watson is ranked below a laundry list of career backups who are starting as bridge quarterbacks in 2024.

Some of the quarterbacks ranked about Watson? Former Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett, Sam Darnold, and Gardner Minshew. New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, fresh off of a horrid season that ended in a season-ending injury, is even ranked higher than Watson.

In fact, Pizzuta ranked Watson dead last among all non-rookie quarterbacks entering Week 1 action. Here is what The 33rd Team’s Pizzuta had to say on the Browns’ quarterback:

“At no point during Deshaun Watson’s Cleveland tenure has he looked like an above-average quarterback. He’s lost confidence in the pocket, and he cannot create like he used to.

It’s to the point where players like Jacoby Brissett and Joe Flacco looked better in the offense.”

Needless to say, nothing Watson has done in Cleveland since arriving in the blockbuster trade over two years ago has been convincingly positive. As he takes the field for the first time since his season-ending shoulder surgery, he will need to prove he is still the guy he was in Houston.
