With Week 2 already nearly upon us, the Iowa Hawkeyes enter it among the top-20 teams in the nation in one poll.
While the Hawkeyes find themselves at No. 21 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, the AP Top 25, and the ESPN Power Rankings, they are a little higher in the CBS Sports 134 rankings of every FBS team.
This week is the first regular season rendition of the rankings and Iowa is up to No. 19 in the country. This is a two-spot move upward following their strong showing in their Week 1 40-0 win over Illinois State.
Not far behind Iowa is their upcoming opponent, the Iowa State Cyclones in the annual Cy-Hawk rivalry game. The Cyclones saw a climb of one spot up to No. 26 after their 21-3 win over North Dakota.
Iowa State was not only just outside the top 25 in this poll but is receiving votes in the US LBM Poll and the AP Top 25 Poll as well.
Whoever comes out on top in this one is going to see a sizable jump in their resume and their ranking based on this being one of the best early-season tests and a chance at a resume-building win for each squad.
In what is expected to be yet another close contest, kickoff awaits inside Kinnick Stadium this Saturday. The Cy-Hawk game gets underway on Saturday, Sep. 7 at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
