Bucs HC Todd Bowles calls Week 1 opponent by old name

In a moment captured by ESPN, Bowles answered the question regarding Daniels with a bit of a swing and a miss on the team name.

Todd Bowles has had an eventful football life that includes time playing in the NFL, not just coaching in it. Part of his playing career was in Washington where he played for the team from 1992 to 1993. Sometimes old habits die hard when it comes to discussing things from your past.

For Bowles, when discussing the quarterback of the Washington Commanders, Jayden Daniels, Bowles went back to his playing days to describe the team.

In a moment captured by Jenna Laine of ESPN, Bowles answered the question regarding Daniels with a bit of a swing and a miss on the team name.

“I think if you find yourself just facing a rookie quarterback, the other ten guys are going to kill you. We’re facing the redacted, we’re not facing Jayden Daniels.”

Obviously, the name has been replaced for obvious reasons, but we still see it slip through every one in awhile, especially with the older players and coaches. Jenna Laine points out it may be hard for him to shake it due to his playing days and the tone did not have any malicious intent behind it.

Due to those circumstances, we can all smack our foreheads and continue to get ready for Sunday.
