NASCAR is set to arrive at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the 27th weekend of the 2024 Cup Series season. It represents the second date at the venue, as NASCAR went to Atlanta in February, resulting in a victory for Daniel Suarez. This will be a crucial event as it represents the first Cup Series race in the Round 16 during the NASCAR playoffs.
First, the Cup Series needs to qualify for the event at Atlanta, and the qualifying format is simple. Every driver makes a single-lap run in the first round, which will determine the 10 competitors moving on to the final round. Then, those drivers will fight it out to set the lineup for the top 10 starters. The metric system determines the qualifying order.
