Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies coaching staff had plenty of reasons to celebrate after the team’s 35-3 victory over Weber State, as numerous players such as Jonah Coleman, Thaddeus Dixon, and Decker DeGraaf played extremely well in the win.
The complete domination allowed some of the younger players on the roster to get their feet wet, with many making their debut in purple and gold.
Backup quarterback Demond Williams Jr. was able to throw his first career touchdown pass and break off a couple of explosive runs. However, Williams was not the star of the second team.
That honor goes to freshman running back Adam Mohammed, who collected 39 yards on just two carries, including a 32-yard scamper that saw him get dragged down just inches away from a touchdown.

Fisch’s coaching staff has constantly raved about Mohammed’s work ethic and character.
“He eats right, he does things right, he lives right, his body can handle this type of game, he’s smart,” Fisch said after the game.
This is lofty praise for a freshman running back. It’s clear that he has gained favor with the coaching staff, which may lead to more of Mohammed as the season progresses.
In addition to Fisch’s comments about Mohammed off the field, fans were treated to his unique skillset on the field. His movement skills on the aforementioned 32-yard run preview incredible potential.

Very few 215-pound running backs can accelerate into the open field the way he can. Fisch was also quick to mention Mohammed’s incredible strength.
Though star Jonah Coleman should maintain a hold on the starting job, assuming he stays healthy, Mohammed will likely be slowly worked into the offense as the coaching staff looks to mix up the looks it throws at defenses.
