Saints work out John Ross, other wide receivers

The Saints worked out a group of receivers on Monday, including veteran speedster John Ross

The New Orleans Saints may still be looking to add some speed to the team post-cutdowns.

Today, the team worked out former first-round pick John Ross amongst a group of other veteran wideouts.

Ross started to make a name for himself as a highly touted receiver out of Washington. During his pre-draft process in 2017, Ross boosted his stock tremendously by breaking the NFL record for 40 times at the combine. Ross ran an official 4.22 40 and solidified himself as a top receiver in the draft. Ross was selected 9th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2017 draft and would spend injury-riddled seasons with the team. Ross would spend some time with the Giants in 2021 before finding his way onto the Chiefs and Eagles practice squads the past couple of seasons.

This preseason with the Eagles, Ross caught four passes for 37 yards while returning two kicks for 68 yards as well before being released.

The team also worked out receiver Phillip Dorsett who was also a highly touted speedster out of Miami when he was in college. Jahcour Pearson, Ihmir Smith-Marsette and David Wallis are among others that joined in on the workout per Nick Underhill at NOF Network.

We’ll see what happens in the coming days if anything materializes with any of these guys but it’s clear the team wants to add some speed to the receiver room.
