Three Texans land new numbers before start of the regular season

Kamari Lassiter said he would change his jersey number this offseason and is a man of his word as the Houston Texans prepare for the 2024 season.

Kamari Lassiter warned Houston Texans fans he’d be changing from No. 14 after the preseason.

He’s a man of his word heading into Week 1’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

Lassiter, along with safety Calen Bullock and slot defender Myles Bryant, have all changed their jersey numbers before the start of the regular season. Lassiter, Houston’s first pick out of Georgia, will switch from No. 14 to No. 4, which was previously worn by cornerback Mike Ford.

It’s the closest digit to his college jersey No. 3, which currently is being worn by star receiver Tank Dell.

Bullock, the Texans’ third-round pick out of USC, switched from No. 41 to No. 21. The jersey was previously worn by CJ Henderson, who was released following the preseason finale late last month. Bullock never had a chance to wear No. 7 since reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year and franchise QB C.J. Stroud dons the jersey.

Bryant, who wore No. 30 during the preseason, switched back to No. 27 following the release of cornerback Troy Pride Jr. That was Bryant’s jersey number back with the New England Patriots the past two seasons before joining Houston this fall.

The Texans open the regular season at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
