Harrison Burton’s future in NASCAR receives a big update in 2024

Harrison Burton’s future in NASCAR receives a big update in 2024. Will Burton return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025?

[autotag]Harrison Burton[/autotag] pulled off the unthinkable at Daytona International Speedway over one week ago. On August 24, Burton entered the Coke Zero Sugar 400 as the last full-time driver in the NASCAR Cup Series point standings and found a way to enter victory lane for the first time. However, will the win be enough for the driver of the No. 21 car to stay in the Cup Series?

According to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, Burton seems more likely to drive in the NASCAR Xfinity or Truck Series than the Cup Series with the funding he has for 2025. Obviously, nothing is official, but Burton may not return to the Cup Series next season. This may seem surprising after making the 2024 NASCAR playoffs, but the victory came late in silly season for the Cup Series.

A move to the Xfinity or Truck Series would likely be an excellent move for Burton, as he would be able to drive in competitive equipment weekly. If he were to stay in the Cup Series, the equipment would likely be on the lower end of the spectrum. Burton could return to NASCAR’s lower levels and prove that he deserves a seat in the Cup Series moving forward.
