Auburn target Elijah Melendez de-commits from Miami

The four-star linebacker backs off his pledge to Miami while on a visit to the Plains

One of Auburn’s top flip candidates has backed off his pledge to Miami.

[autotag]Elijah Melendez[/autotag], a four-star linebacker from Kissimmee, Florida, announced Saturday that he has de-committed from Miami, the program that he has been loyal to since last December.

The most intriguing detail of Melendez’s de-commitment is that he is currently visiting Auburn’s campus. A few experts are beginning to connect the dots, and are beginning to sense that Auburn could ultimately be his new home.

Since the announcement, three recruiting experts have submitted predictions in favor of Auburn. Tom Loy and Christian Clemente, both of 247Sports, logged predictions on Saturday for Melendez to commit to Auburn. Loy, who is 247Sports’ National Recruiting Analyst, has a 97.96% success rate when submitting predictions.  On3’s Steve Wiltfong has also submitted a prediction following Melendez’s de-commitment from Miami.

Melendez is a four-star linebacker from Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida. He ranks as high as No. 4 among 2025 linebackers, and is No. 22 overall according to ESPN and Rivals.
