Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner ranks middle of the pack of 2024 NFL rookie class

They traded up in the first round, unfortunately mortgaging their 2025 class for it, to have the chance to draft a falling Dallas Turner.

The Minnesota Vikings saw a chance to get an impact player in the 2024 NFL Draft after J.J. McCarthy was already drafted. They traded up in the first round, unfortunately mortgaging their 2025 class for it, to have the chance to draft a falling Dallas Turner. He had a solid preseason but was overshadowed by others in the edge rotation.

Despite those factors, PFF has him in the middle of the pack for the other rookies in the class this preseason.

PFF graded all 32 first-round picks from the 2024 NFL Draft and 11 other qualifying players. Turner ranked 20th overall in the group, which puts him right in the middle.

“Turner had a modestly productive preseason before sitting out the Vikings’ final game in Philadelphia. He picked up two pressures, including a sack, on 20 pass-rush reps. He also got a taste of what Brian Flores’ will want him to do when dropping into coverage.”

They acknowledge that Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel will affect his playing time at the edge. Despite that, they believe he will make a meaningful impact on the Vikings’ pass rush rotation in 2024.
