Roger Rosengarten made his case for a starting job in the preseason

Former Huskies have been lighting up the preseason, but one unheralded Husky is Roger Rosengarten who is attempting to secure his spot as a starter along the Ravens offensive line.

The Washington Huskies were graced with the extremely consistent presence of right tackle Roger Rosengarten as a multi-year starter for the team, starting all 28 games in 2022 and 2023.

Even though he was snubbed from any postseason honors, Rosengarten was an integral piece of the Joe Moore Award-winning group in the 2023 season. He also looks like a steal at the end of round No. 2, where the Baltimore Ravens selected him in April.

During the draft process, Rosengarten was heavily connected to the San Francisco 49ers in the first round but ultimately slipped to the end of the second.

None of that has stopped Rosengarten from continuing to improve and make his case to be a starter come week one. He has impressed coach John Harbaugh’s staff after a dominant preseason that saw him not allow a single pressure across 15 pass block snaps in Week 3.

Rosengarten appears to have claimed the starting right tackle spot to protect the reigning MVP, quarterback Lamar Jackson, after battling for the job all offseason. Baltimore seems to think very highly of him if the organization is willing to entrust him with the spot as a rookie.

In front of Jackson and running back Derrick Henry, Rosengarten should be able to utilize his impressive athleticism and develop into one of the best tackles in the AFC North.

Rosengarten will forever be remembered as one of the key members of a historic 2023 Husky team. Now in Baltimore, he has an opportunity to become a key contributor right away and help lead his team on a deep playoff run, just like he did his final seasons at Washington.
