The Baltimore Ravens defense was on a historic level in 2023, breaking multiple franchise and league records on their way to an incredible year. While they lost multiple vital pieces, the defensive coordinator of that team, new play-caller Zach Orr, is ready to take over and leave his own mark.
Orr had no shortage of talent to practice against in the lead-up to the 2024 season, with Baltimore’s offense housing a two-time MVP quarterback in Lamar Jackson and multiple other star playmakers. The former player mentioned how beneficial it is to face that level of competition every day, calling it a boost.
“I mean, we get a boost every single day. Like, I tell people all the time … I tell our defense all the time that our offense is one of the best offenses in the National Football League, so we get great work every single day, and I know they feel the same way. So, we definitely get a boost. Obviously, when you’re a defender, and you see Lamar Jackson opposed from you – the reigning MVP [Most Valuable Player], it definitely gets you going a little bit more. But our guys are fired up every single day, no matter who’s out here.”
Orr will have his hands complete to start the 2024 season, as the Ravens will go to Kansas City to face off against the Chiefs. However, his playing days should serve him well, as should going up against Baltimore’s offense every day in practice.
