PFF: Second-year CB earns top grade in Chiefs’ preseason finale vs. Bears

Nic Jones was the #Chiefs’ highest-graded player in Kansas City’s loss to the Bears on Thursday night.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Chicago Bears in their final preseason game of 2024 on Thursday night, falling well short of a win with a 34-21 final score.

The Chiefs had hoped to bounce back from two consecutive preseason losses but were unable to compete with the Bears’ high-octane offense.

While Kansas City’s starters were on the bench for the entire game, the Chiefs’ second and third-stringers were called upon to play a full four quarters, giving them a chance to earn coveted spots on the team’s 53-man roster.

When Pro Football Focus released their grades for Kansas City’s players after Thursday’s matchup against Chicago, second-year defensive back Nic Jones was revealed to be the Chiefs’ top performer.

Though his standout performance against the Bears won’t necessarily guarantee Jones a spot on Kansas City’s 53-man roster, Andy Reid and Brett Veach will certainly need to think twice if they consider cutting him next week.
