Vikings projected a less than favorable win total by The Athletic

On Thursday, The Athletic let its new win-loss model predict all 32 NFL teams, and it did not have the best projection for the Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings’ season win and loss records have been predicted all over the place, from the positive to the rather negative. On Thursday, The Athletic let its new win-loss model predict all 32 NFL teams, and it did not have the best projection for the Vikings.

However, it is a bit more than what some have predicted for them, including us here at Vikings Wire.

The article explains that the model works as follows: “NFL Projection Model takes play-by-play data and creates an offensive and defensive projection for each team. From there, I simulate every game this season — and repeat this process 100,000 times.”

Those models result in the Vikings having 6.8 wins for the team. They give the Vikings credit despite their tough preseason. They remain optimistic, stating, “Honestly, even without the rookie first-round QB suiting up for the Minnesota Vikings, I’m still pretty excited.”

Despite that optimism, they have the Vikings, and their 6.8 wins are the fourth worst record in the NFL.
