Chicago #Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams reportedly won’t play in preseason finale vs. Kansas City #Chiefs

Over the past two years, comparisons have been frequent between this year’s top pick, Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears starting quarterback, and Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes. Their teams will face off in the year’s final preseason game without the quarterbacks taking center stage.

On Monday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid hinted that he would likely sit his starters for an extended look at his younger players. According to a report from The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus announced the decision during Tuesday’s press conference that Williams will sit with other vital Bears starters during Thursday’s game.

Williams ends the preseason after two impressive performances, taking 43 snaps. Last Saturday, he was 6-13 passing for 75 yards and an electric seven-yard rushing touchdown in Chicago’s victory over Cincinnati. The former Heisman Award winner from USC will be the Bears ‘ season-opening starter and is expected to be the franchise quarterback.

Mahomes is still the talk of the league for his incredible behind-the-back pass to Travis Kelce in the Chiefs’ last game against the Detroit Lions. The football world must wait longer before both quarterbacks meet in a game.
