North Carolina is coming off a season in 2023-24 where they won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. While they lost some talent with Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram, they do return a really good backcourt.
That backcourt is headlined by the return of RJ Davis, Elliot Cadeau and Seth Trimble. The trio will be three key pieces to North Carolina’s success this upcoming season and are familiar with one another, playing together last season.
They also welcome in Ian Jackson, Drake Powell as recruits and transfer Cade Tyson.
As we get set for the 2024-25 season, the Field of 68 podcast is releasing their best backcourt for the season. And checking in at No. 4 were the Tar Heels:

North Carolina’s backcourt of Davis, Cadeau, Ian Jackson, Drake Powell and Cade Tyson were behind only No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Kansas, and No. 3 Gonzaga.
That’s a pretty fair ranking for UNC due to the questions of the two recruits and the transfer they have coming in. But to be in the top five is pretty good.
With some worries about the frontcourt going into the season, North Carolina’s backcourt could be the spot that carries them.
