Nebraska names Dylan Raiola the starting quarterback against UTEP

Dylan Raziola will look to lead Nebraska football to a season opening victory

Nebraska football officially named freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola the starter on Wednesday afternoon. The team’s X account confirmed this.

Raiola has been talked about throughout the preseason. Coach Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield have sung his praises.

The freshman has also received his share of preseason accolades. In January, he played in the Polynesian Bowl and was most recently named to 247Sports’s Preseason Freshman All-America Team.

Raiola will be the first freshman quarterback to start for Nebraska football since Adrian Martinez did so back in 2018. He will look to lead Nebraska to their first season-opening win since the program defeated South Alabama in 2019.

At the very least, this provides some clarity, with ten days to go until the season opener against UTEP. This news undoubtedly represents a new future for the Nebraska football program.
