Alabama now has a top five player committed at nine different positions

The Crimson Tide’s 2025 class got even better Tuesday.

Following the commitment of highly-touted running back Akylin Dear on Tuesday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2025 recruiting class only continues to look better-and-better.

Now sitting at 20 total commitments, the Crimson Tide still rank as the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class behind only Ohio State, but also hold four fewer commits than the Buckeyes. In addition to this, Alabama’s average recruit rankings sits No. 2 nationally at a 94.16 according to 247Sports, which is behind only Oregon who hold five fewer commitments than the Crimson Tide.

However, what might just be the most impressive thing about Alabama’s class is when you take a little deeper of a look, in particular at some of the top names in the group. In this, you will find that Alabama has a top five overall player in the 2025 class at nine different positions following the commitment of Dear.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, those positions come at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, offensive tackle, interior offensive line, edge rusher, linebacker, cornerback, and punter. The names, as well as position rankings, are as follows:

  • Keelon Russell (Duncanville, Texas) – No. 3 quarterback
  • Akylin Dear (Quitman, Mississippi) – No. 2 running back
  • Caleb Cunningham (Choctaw County, Mississippi) – No. 2 wide receiver
  • Ty Haywood (Ryan, Texas) – No. 2 offensive tackle
  • Michael Carroll (IMG Academy, Florida) – No. 4 interior offensive lineman
  • Justin Hill (Winton Woods, Ohio) – No. 4 edge rusher
  • Darrell Johnson (Dodge County, Georgia) – No. 4 linebacker
  • Dijon Lee (Mission Viejo, California) – No. 4 cornerback
  • Alex Asparuhov (San Joaquin Memorial, California) – No. 5 punter

Not to mention Alabama also has one other name sitting just outside of the top five at his position in Anthony Rogers, who ranks as the nation’s No. 6 running back.

With the Crimson Tide’s 2025 class not quite finished yet either, could they potentially add to this group between now and Early Signing Day?
