One of Penn State’s newest additions to the program is already polishing his résumé before getting started with his college football career, officially. Cooper Cousins, one of Penn State’s key players in the Class of 2024, has been named to the 247Sports Preseason True Freshman All-America team for 2024.
Cousins is likely to take on a backup role this season for Penn State, but the early enrollee seems to have taken advantage of the early start to his college football preparations. All reports out of Penn State practices this offseason have been glowing when discussing Cousins.
Head coach James Franklin has suggested Cousins may not wait too long to get some reps on the field this fall, and he will likely be a fixture on the offensive line sooner rather than later.
“One of the more versatile linemen in the 2024 class, Cooper Cousins is capable of playing both guard positions and center,” 247Sports said about Cousins. “It’ll be tough for Cousins to emerge as a starter at center — he does look like PSU’s future there — but at worst he looks like a swing option inside as the backup at every interior position for the Nittany Lions.”
Cousins was a four-star recruit in Penn State’s Class of 2024.
