After a tumultuous offseason that included getting released by the Tennessee Titans and recovering from multiple injuries he sustained at the end of the 2023 season with the Washington Huskies, Dillon Johnson crossed an important career mark on Saturday with the Carolina Panthers.
He scored his first career NFL touchdown as part of a strong performance against the Carolina Panthers. Johnson found the end zone from two yards away at the end of the fourth quarter in a 15-12 loss to the New York Jets in the preseason, and the former All-Pac-12 second-team honoree also led all rushers with 83 yards on 18 carries.

The former Husky is pushing for a spot on the roster, and as coach Dave Canales looks to make cuts as he narrows his team down to 53 players ahead of the August 27 deadline.
However, despite his strong day, the Panthers decided to part ways with Johnson on Monday afternoon, opting to continue looking at veteran options Raheem Blackshear and Mike Boone, who are competing for the final running back spot on the roster while Jonathan Brooks is unavailable.
Carolina placed the second-round pick on the physically unable to perform list as he works his way back from a torn ACL he suffered during the 2023 season at Texas.
