NFC Contenders

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers will be desperate to launch another title challenge this season, but they have a massive issue.

Efficient wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade and has refused to train until he is allowed to move. Several teams have shown interest in his services, but he remains in San Francisco.

Apart from Aiyuk, the roster is largely intact, with star quarterback and MVP finalist Brock Purdy leading their charge. The 49ers have a solid mix of established stars and emerging talents, so keeping their core healthy and motivated will be key.

Aiyuk’s situation is a needless distraction, but the 49ers should appease him. He is a young player who could improve and enjoys a terrific understanding with Purdy.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles’ performances nosedived last year, culminating in a disappointing play-off exit. However, they still have one of the most talented rosters in the league.

Head coach Nick Sirianni’s decision to relinquish control of the offense to Kellen Moore could be a wise move. The Eagles are keen on bouncing back and Moore will be crucial to their hopes.

They still need to refresh their team and have sent scouts to Ireland, a country with a growing appetite for American football, to find new talents.

While the NFL might not have the same deep-rooted history as Gaelic Football, the sport is rapidly gaining traction. This increasing popularity has naturally led to a surge in NFL betting in Ireland.

Sports betting sites in Ireland have responded to this trend by offering a wide range of betting options on NFL games. Irish gridiron fans will be backing the Eagles to achieve Super Bowl success if the 2018 champions sign players from the Emerald Isle.

Detroit Lions

After their heartbreak in the NFC Championship last year, the Detroit Lions have quickly identified their weakness and addressed them in a massive roster reshuffle.

The Lions are serious about challenging for the Super Bowl and have moved with urgency. Head coach Dan Campbell will hope he can put a fire in the belly of the newcomers.

The fans have endured a long wait for a Super Bowl, and the team’s ability to build on last season’s success will determine whether they can finally end the drought.

AFC Contenders

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming to become the first team to win three Super Bowl titles on the spin. Everything looks possible with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.

They have reinforced their squad with first-round pick Xavier Worthy and free agent Marquise Brown, plugging one of the niggling issues in the team. Despite losing cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, their defence remains formidable.

They were underwhelming during the regular season last term. However, they showed the resilience of champions, picking themselves up to clinch the title at the expense of the 49ers.

With Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce leading the charge to glory, the Chiefs are worthy favourites to make history at Super Bowl LIX.

Baltimore Ravens

Two-time champions Baltimore Ravens also carry Super Bowl aspirations, but it will not be a cakewalk.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to play a vital role, but the departure of defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald and crucial free agent losses could hurt their defence.

However, John Harbough is an adaptable coach who can forge a strong team with bare bones. With Jackson’s playmaking ability, they are a team to watch closely.

If their defence can hold the fort and Jackson stays healthy, Baltimore could make another deep play-off run.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have some massive boots to fill on both sides of the ball if they want to challenge for the Super Bowl after losing Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde and Tre’Davious White.

There will be more work on quarterback Josh Allen’s plate this season. The former Wyoming Cowboys star is a perennial MVP candidate and one of the best in his position.

The Mountain West state representative must find a way to carry the team into the play-offs without his partner in crime, Diggs.

They still have some exciting veteran talents on their books that could aid their cause, but they need to bring in more quality to compete with the best in class.
