When we are this close to Colorado football’s season opener, you can typically put together a depth chart and feel good about it. But if Deion Sanders is your head coach, the Buffs’ depth chart might be written in pencil until game day.
For the second straight season, the Buffs will incorporate 50-plus new scholarship players into the roster, and the coaching staff’s priority is to find out what they have in those new players. Once that happens, CU can set a depth chart and get its best lineup out on the field.
While meeting with the media after CU’s open practice on Friday, Coach Prime was asked about when his depth chart will be solidified:
“Probably right before kickoff, that’s the truth,” Sanders said. “There’s too many things that happen. Somebody may sustain an injury in practice. Somebody may not give the effort that you desire. That’s why you do little things like that. But you want to keep them safe.”
