4-star decommits from Rutgers, projected to flip to Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs are project to added another class of 2025 contributor on the defensive side of the football.

Less than a week after the decommitment of four-star defensive lineman Christian Garrett, the Georgia Bulldogs appear well on their way to rebounding. Chase Linton, a four-star lineman out of Atlanta, decommitted from Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday afternoon as the involvement of both the Bulldogs and Ohio State in his recruiting has grown in recent weeks.

Linton is listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, and plays high school football at North Atlanta High. He is the 24th rated defensive lineman nationally and 30th ranked player in Georgia according to 247Sports. He recorded 31 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, and two sacks a season ago.

The Bulldogs offer Linton a few weeks ago on July 28, after having committed to the Scarlet Knights in early June. 247Sports’ Benjamin Wolk recorded an official projection for Linton to commit to UGA around the time of his decommitment on Saturday.

The Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart currently hold the nation’s fourth ranked recruiting class, trailing the Buckeyes, Alabama, and LSU. Three-stars JJ Hanne and Stephon Shivers are both currently committed to Georgia as defensive linemen.
