Packers sitting 31 players for preseason game vs. Broncos

The Packers are sitting most starters and veterans against the Broncos on Sunday night.

Quarterback Jordan Love, first-round pick Jordan Morgan and just about every other veteran or starter on the Green Bay Packers roster will not play in Sunday’s preseason game against the Denver Broncos.

The Packers reported 31 players aren’t playing Sunday.

Quarterback Sean Clifford started at quarterback for the Packers. Other offensive starters included Emanuel Wilson, Bo Melton, Ben Sims and Malik Heath.

The Packers planned to use Friday’s joint practice as the live reps for the veterans and starters in Week 2 of the preseason.

The Broncos are expecting to play their starters. Coach Matt LaFleur said the matchup between the Packers backups and Broncos starters provides an excellent evaluation opportunity.
