NASCAR postpones Cup Series race at Michigan to Monday, August 18

NASCAR has postponed the remainder of the 2024 FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway to Monday, August 18.

NASCAR was finally forced to pull the plug after a rough day at Michigan International Speedway. Due to inclement weather, NASCAR officially postponed the remainder of the 2024 FireKeepers 400 Casino 400 at Michigan to Monday, August 18. The NASCAR Cup Series event will restart at 11:00 a.m. ET on the USA Network.

Chase Elliott currently leads the Cup Series race after Ryan Blaney won Stage 1 due to pit strategy. Bubba Wallace was on course to win Stage 1; however, Denny Hamlin spun out in Turn 4, causing a caution with under 10 laps to go. Wallace and several other drivers came down pit road and cycled back out to the lead ahead of Stage 2.

It has been a rough weekend for NASCAR at Michigan after rain delayed the Xfinity Series event and caused several delays. The Cup Series also had a shortened practice session with a starting lineup set by the metric system. Thankfully, the weather forecast for Monday looks clear, and NASCAR should complete the event tomorrow.
