Fans love to hear when freshmen get praise for their play, with Dabo Swinney sharing some heavy praise for a new tight end to the program who has already flashed for Clemson’s head coach.
Recently, when discussing how the Tigers’ tight end room is one of the best in the program right now, Swinney took the time to share how pleased he’s been with what he’s seen from freshman tight end Christian Bentancur. According to Swinney, he may just be as good a player as they’ve ever had at the position.
“I tell ya, Bentancur, man – he might be as good of a kid as we’ve ever signed at that position,” Swinney said. “I mean, that’s pretty strong praise. We’ve got a strong room.”
A four-star recruit in the 2024 class, Bentancur was one of the top tight ends in the class. According to 247Sports composite rankings, he ranked as the No. 6 tight end and No. 74 overall player in the class. He ended his high school career at Marian Central Catholic High School (Woodstock, Illinois) with 231 receptions for 3,867 yards and 51 touchdowns.
“That kid, he’s gonna be a fun one,” Swinney said. “He’s going to be a fun one to coach and watch develop. He’s just a natural player.”
Clemson could have another great tight end on their hands.
