The Auburn Tigers head into year two of the [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] era and look to gain ground in its rebuilding efforts.
The Tigers earned six wins in 2023 and grabbed a postseason bid to play in the Music City Bowl at season’s end. Auburn, however, wants to right the ship as the program has not won more than six games in a season since 2019. Due to their extensive revamp of the offense, many outlets are projecting Auburn to take that much-needed step forward this season.
One of those outlets, CBS Sports, is projecting Auburn to make another bowl appearance in 2024. In its preseason College Football Playoff and bowl projections, CBS Sports forecasts the Tigers to meet up with TCU in the Liberty Bowl on Friday, Dec. 27 at Simmons Bank Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee.
TCU experienced a setback last season after appearing in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. The Horned Frogs finished 5-7 with three wins against Big 12 foes. TCU however did play close games with quality opponents. The Horned Frogs lost by a touchdown to Texas Tech and by three points to both Colorado and Texas.
CBS Sports projects four SEC teams– Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, and Alabama— to earn College Football Playoff bids. In all, CBS forecasts 11 SEC teams to make a postseason appearance including LSU, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Oklahoma.
