Washington’s fall camp schedule is as busy as it gets

The Washington Huskies have a lot on their plate during every day of fall camp.

Before fall camp got underway, coach Jedd Fisch told members of the media that he wanted his players to be all about football, all day long, just like an NFL training camp. On Wednesday, linebacker Drew Fowler discussed just how much Fisch is asking of his Huskies on a daily basis.

“You really want to know our whole schedule?” the senior asked on Wednesday with a smile. “We’re in the building by 6:30 AM, we have about two hours of meetings before practice where we talk about practice before we actually go out there.”

“Then we practice, we come back in and the coaches have to run away for about an hour and a half to break down the film, we get to shower, eat, get some treatment, and then we’re back in meetings until about 5:00 or 6:00 PM. We lift from about 6:00 to 7:00 PM, then we have walkthroughs from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, we’re out of here by 9:00 PM, rinse and repeat.”

Ahead of Washington’s first season in the Big Ten, Fisch’s coaching staff is doing everything in its power to make sure its team, which features over 40 new players from last season’s run to the national championship, is as prepared as possible for the new season and the new conference.

After a taxing, nearly 14-hour day, when players get home, do they fall right asleep?

“Something like that,” Fowler said. “You try to.”
