ESPN shares Caitlin Clark’s midseason WNBA top 25 player ranking

Caitlin Clark is quickly among the WNBA’s top 25 players.

As the WNBA season gets set to resume at the end of the week, the drought without Caitlin Clark basketball gracing our television screens will at last come to an end.

Though it was no doubt great for Clark to get a well-deserved break, it now feels like it’s been far too long since Clark has splashed a logo 3-pointer or dished out a series of dazzling assists.

That entertainment drought ends on Friday night when the Indiana Fever resume their WNBA season against the Phoenix Mercury.

With the return of the WNBA season upon us, ESPN published an updated look at its top 25 WNBA players at the midseason point.

Clark checks in as the WNBA’s No. 15 player according to ESPN’s Kevin Pelton, Alexa Philippou and Michael Voepel.

We didn’t include rookies in our preseason ranking of the top 25 WNBA players. Now everyone has seen the 2024 draft class enough to know Clark is an easy pick for this list. After a 1-8 start against a rough schedule, the Fever have gone 10-7 since and are in playoff position. Clark leads all rookies in scoring and is 13th overall. She also leads the league in assists and has dealt well with the enormous pressure. – Voepel, ESPN.

As the Fever’s season resumes, Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 8.2 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. The 6-foot rookie guard is shooting 40.5% from the field, 32.7% from 3-point range and 89.1% from the free throw line.

The top five in ESPN’s top 25 WNBA player rankings at the midseason point features Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson at No. 1, New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart at No. 2, Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier at No. 3, Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas at No. 4 and New York Liberty forward Jonquel Jones at No. 5.

Fever forward Aliyah Boston is ranked No. 17 and Indiana guard Kelsey Mitchell is ranked No. 25.

Clark will look to help guide the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season. That quest continues on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. CT on ION.
