Former Kentucky basketball star Jacob Toppin spent three years in Lexington, from 2020 to 2023. He wasn’t drafted that season, but did sign with the New York Knicks.
On Wednesday, the Knicks announced that they are bringing Toppin back for a second season. They have signed the forward to a two-way contract for the 2024-25 season.

Toppin improved ever year as a Wildcat, and as a Senior, he averaged 12.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. That was double his numbers from the previous year.
For the Knicks G-League team, Toppin was solid. He averaged 19.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He made 33% of his three-pointers as well.
Toppin also appeared in nine games for the Knicks, averaging just over a point per game. He also participated in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, but was eliminated in controversial fashion.
The former Wildcat will get a second chance to impress this coming season, and Big Blue Nation will be rooting for him to earn a full contract.
