The UCLA Bruins offense and defense should be getting finalized sometime in the upcoming couple of weeks. The projections have been released, but things can change depending on how camp goes.
One position up for grabs is the starting right guard spot, as DeShaun Foster mentioned recently, per Ben Bolch of The Los Angeles Times.
The assumption all along was that UNLV transfer Alani Makihele would get the nod. But, as of now, he hasn’t yet, although it could be him who gets the job.
“DeShaun Foster said UCLA’s starting right guard spot remains open. It had been widely assumed that the spot would go to UNLV transfer Alani Makihele — and it still very well might — but for Foster to say the position remains open is interesting.”
Makihele was a massive transfer portal addition after a stellar run with UNLV in the Mountain West Conference, but Foster saying the spot is still up for grabs might be worth monitoring.
The Bruins begin the season on August 31 against Hawaii, so it will be interesting to see how things develop between now and then.
