Rams got ‘good news’ on Ernest Jones’ knee, LB will practice vs. Cowboys

Sean McVay shared an encouraging update on Ernest Jones, who has been dealing with a nagging knee injury

There was some slight concern about Ernest Jones’ knee recently after Sean McVay told reporters that the linebacker is dealing with the same issue that limited him in OTAs earlier this offseason. Jones is the Rams’ primary inside linebacker and defensive signal caller so any time he misses hurts the team as a whole.

Fortunately, whatever has been bothering Jones doesn’t seem to be anything major. McVay said Tuesday that the team got “good news” on Jones’ knee and he should be good to go moving forward.

Jones is expected to practice against the Cowboys on Wednesday, which is a great sign.

“Ernest will be good,” McVay said. “We got good news and we expect him to be out there tomorrow, so he’s great.”

The coach didn’t divulge any more detail on Jones’ injury but it’s presumably something that has nagged the linebacker since last season. He dealt with a knee injury in the middle of the 2023 season, which has seemingly lingered into this summer.

Jones said he lost a little bit of weight this year, which has taken some pressure off of his knee, according to Adam Grosbard of the OC Register. All signs point toward him being fully healthy for Week 1, and the hope is that he can stay healthy all year.
