Ex-Broncos pass rusher returns to NFL after stint in UFL

After playing well in the UFL this spring, former Broncos practice squad pass rusher Wyatt Ray signed with the Dolphins.

Former Denver Broncos pass rusher Wyatt Ray is signing with the Miami Dolphins after a successful stint in the United Football League.

Ray (6-3, 254 pounds) joined the Broncos in 2022 after spending time with seven other NFL teams from 2019-2022. He joined Denver’s practice squad in December of the 2022 campaign and was elevated to the game-day roster three times that season.

In those three games, Ray played 37 snaps on defense and recorded two tackles. He also played 67 snaps on special teams. He was released by the Broncos the following spring.

Ray was then picked up by the Houston Roughnecks, but they folded when the XFL merged with the USFL to form the UFL. Fortunately, the San Antonio Brahmas picked Ray in the UFL’s dispersal draft earlier this year.

Playing for the Brahams, Ray totaled 24 tackles and 5.5 sacks in the UFL this spring. He’ll now get a chance to return to the NFL in Miami.
