Spencer Rattler (thigh) expected to return to practice on Tuesday

Spencer Rattler missed Sunday’s practice with a thigh injury, but the decision was precautionary. Sounds like the rookie should be good to go on Tuesday:

After a strong preseason debut, Spencer Rattler missed New Orleans Saints training camp practice on Sunday. According to Dennis Allen, it’s just a thigh contusion and shouldn’t create panic.

From the sound of things, Rattler should be expected back for Saints practice on Tuesday. The Saints had an off day on Monday. This provides Rattler with a free day to rest without missing a day of practice. Ironically, this is the same practice schedule as when Jake Haener missed practice. His reason was significantly more serious, of course.

Just like Rattler did when Haener missed practice, Haener took full advantage of having all the reps with the second and third team.

Allen said he “doesn’t expect it to be anything” and described it as a “precautionary on the training staff’s part.” Rattler wanted to get out to practice, but the training staff made the call to hold him out for a day. This decision was likely made with the light day at practice on Sunday and the upcoming rest day in mind.

The injury doesn’t seem severe. With all of this on the table, it’s reasonable to expect Rattler to be back on the practice field when the Saints return on Tuesday.
