Florida begins 2024 season well outside AP Top 25

Florida won’t start the 2024 season with any support in the AP Top 25, but a few wins could change things quickly for the Gators.

Florida earned some support in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll, but the voters behind the Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll are going to take some winning over.

Florida received zero points in the preseason AP Top 25 poll, published Monday, August 12.

At the top of the Top 25 is SEC rival Georgia, followed by Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Alabama, in that order. The Gators face the Bulldogs and Longhorns in back-to-back weeks during a grueling second half of the season.

Florida also has No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 10 Florida State, No. 13 LSU, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 19 Miami and No. 20 Texas A&M on the schedule. Those same eight teams are ranked inside the Coaches Poll, confirming Florida’s regular season schedule is the toughest in the country.
