A Kentucky cornerback misses practice Saturday due to an injury

Kentucky football was without cornerback D.J. Waller at practice due to an injury.

On Saturday, Kentucky football had a practice as they ramp up for the start of the season at the end of August. Noticeably absent was transfer cornerback D.J. Waller.

Head coach Mark Stoops spoke about the absence, saying:

Waller wasn’t able to play today. He has a slight injury, should be back early this week. Got hurt yesterday after practice doing some extra work, but nothing major.

Waller was originally a three-star recruit in the 2024 class, ranked as a top 500 recruit by 247sports. He committed to Michigan, and was in the defensive rotation in his Freshman season.

After the season, Waller elected to enter the transfer portal, and chose Stoops and Kentucky. It was a big get for the program, and most expect him to be the starter across from Maxwell Hairston in the secondary.

It doesn’t sound as if it’s anything long-term for Waller, but he could miss a little bit of important practice time. Fans will have to wait and see if and how this affects the season opener.
