Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule had an injury prognosis on corner Blye Hill on Saturday. Hill has been added to the 120-man roster but remained on the same timeline to return, as transcribed by the Omaha World Herald’s Sam McKewon (subscription required).
Hill suffered a kneecap injury during Nebraska’s Red-White Game back in April. Rhule indicated earlier this week that Hill is going to likely only miss the first two weeks of training camp.
Hill was a transfer addition for the Huskers in December. He came to Nebraska from St. Francis with three seasons of eligibility remaining. He recorded 21 tackles with a tackle for loss. He also proved to be a ball hawk, recording six pass breakups and two interceptions on the season.
This is certainly an encouraging development for Nebraska, as they could use the additional depth in the secondary. They have added a standout corner in Ceyair Wright, while Tommi Hill mans the other side.
Blye ordinarily would be a starting corner. However, with Wright in the fold, there may be a corner competition to be had. Due to the lack of depth currently in the secondary, Hill could slide down to the second spot, at least for now.
This is certainly a positive development at a position where the Huskers need depth. It will be interesting to see where Hill will fit initially and how he will be able to bounce back from his injury.
Nebraska HC Matt Rhule says Blye Hill remains on the same timeline but has returned to the 120-man roster.
